OMEGA AIR alternative filter elements

In industrial compressed air systems, maintenance costs represent a significant share of total operating expenses.

One of the key contributors are filter elements, which must ensure high filtration efficiency while maintaining low pressure drop and long service life. This article presents alternative filter elements developed using OMEGA AIR’s advanced manufacturing technology, combining reliable filtration performance with reduced operating costs.

Compressed air filtration is not just a technical detail, it is the foundation of reliable pneumatic system operation, equipment protection, and final product quality. Any contamination in the air can lead to component wear, unplanned downtime, or disruption of the production process.
Original filter elements often represent a high cost in regular maintenance, which is why companies are increasingly seeking effective alternatives.

However, choosing a more cost-efficient solution must not mean compromising filtration efficiency, system safety, or equipment lifetime.
The right alternative must provide the same or higher level of protection while optimizing costs.

At OMEGA AIR, we originally developed filters and filter elements to ensure performance, reliability, and proper air quality within our own compressed air systems.
Through continuous improvements in design, materials, and manufacturing quality, customers and partners began asking whether we could also produce OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and alternative filter elements for other brands.
Today, we manufacture alternative and OEM filter elements for more than 80 different companies.

OMEGA AIR filter elements are tested in accordance with ISO 12500 and meet the requirements of ISO 8573-1.

Manufacturing technology of OMEGA AIR alternative filter elements

OMEGA AIR alternative filter elements are developed with the same attention to performance and quality as our standard elements. Their design is based on optimized airflow, high filtration efficiency, and long service life.

Key technological advantages:

Multi-layer filter media with optimized flow structure
Lower pressure drop compared to many competing elements
Long service life while maintaining filtration efficiency
Reliable removal of oil aerosols and solid particles

A coarse filter layer wrapped around a stainless steel mesh provides protection for the fine filtration layer and ensures mechanical stability of the element.
The fine filter media is pleated, increasing the filtration surface area and enabling lower pressure drop compared to non-pleated or wrapped solutions.
This design ensures an optimal balance between filtration efficiency, airflow, and system energy efficiency.

Low pressure drop – the key to energy efficiency

Pressure drop has a direct impact on compressor energy consumption. Every additional 0.1 bar of pressure drop can increase energy consumption by up to 1%, which significantly affects long-term operating costs.
OMEGA AIR filter elements are designed with advanced filter media geometry and optimized filtration surface, enabling:
An initial pressure drop of only 80 mbar (0.08 bar)
Stable and consistent airflow throughout the entire service life
Reduced load on the compressor system

The result is improved system energy efficiency, lower electricity costs, and longer replacement intervals.

Appropriate filtration grade

OMEGA AIR alternative elements are classified according to filtration grades in compliance with ISO 8573-1. This ensures the required air quality for various industrial applications — from general pneumatic systems to demanding applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

Examples of typical filtration classes:

P (coarse filter): removal of solid particles <3 μm
XM (micro filter): removal of solid particles <1 μm, oil aerosols <0.1 mg/m³
XS (super-micro filter): removal of solid particles <0.01 μm, oil aerosols <0.01 mg/m³
A (activated carbon): oil aerosols <0.005 mg/m³

Compatibility and product range

OMEGA AIR offers a wide range of alternative elements compatible with filter housing models from more than 80 different manufacturers. Compliance with ISO 8573-1 has been verified by the Institute for Energy and Environmental Technology (IUTA, Germany) in Duisburg, confirming that all technical requirements are fulfilled and allowing easy replacement without system modifications.
Alternative filter elements manufactured using OMEGA AIR technology provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for industrial users seeking to reduce maintenance costs without compromising quality. With low pressure drop, long service life, and verified filtration performance, they rank among the most reliable and comprehensive alternatives on the compressed air market.

Conclusion

Every detail of an OMEGA AIR filter element is designed for efficiency, stability, and long service life.
From optimized filter media geometry to controlled condensate drainage and low pressure drop, our alternative and OEM filter elements are built to perform without compromise.
